AN inquest has been formally opened into the death of a 21-year-old Machynlleth man who was tragically killed in a car crash.
Guto Pugh was driving to his summer job at the Bae Abermaw Hotel in Barmouth on 20 August this year when he was involved in a three-vehicle collision which in which he died instantly.
Nicola Jones, north west Wales’ deputy coroner, officially opened an inquest into the 21-year-old’s death at a hearing held in Caernarfon last week.
She said: “A full investigation into the circumstances of Mr Pugh’s death is still being carried out. The post-mortem result is being held until a full inquest can be held at a later date.”
Guto’s death left his friends and family devastated and a community fund-raiser was held which raised nearly £4,000 to help pay for his funeral costs.
He was also a keen cornet player and was described by former brass band mates at the Bangor University Brass Band as a “gentle, lovely and talented person”.
