Tom Rowlands has grown a giant pumpkin which he thinks may be the biggest in mid Wales.
Grown outdoors organically, the pumpkin weighs 305kg. That’s 673lb or 48 stones.
Tom reckons the hot weather helped promote growth for the pumpkin, which was grown from seed – the Atlantic Giant strain. It took three months to grow from seed to finish.
Tom said he provided lots of space and organic manure and is prepared to provide seeds for others to try if they want to contact him. Also he is open to suggestions as to where the pumpkin might go. Bearing in mind its size and weight, it will need suitable transport.
If any bigger pumpkin has ever been produced in mid Wales, Tom would like to know about it.
