Madam,
Firstly I would like to know where Mr Tottle thinks the proposed route of the bypass is going to go as there has been no mention on any option about slashing through certain places, especially log cabins.
The construction of this bypass is a vital piece of the jigsaw in the future development of the airfield so as to attract prime employment and large businesses onto the airfield, which would be of huge benefit to the economy of not only Llanbedr but the whole of the Ardudwy area and also keep young people and young families in the area.
Does the SLVSSB group not care about the future economy of the village and the opportunities the airfield can bring once this bypass has been built?
Also, the bypass will help a great deal with the traffic congestion that occurs in the village on a regular basis, not only in the summer months but throughout the year when during peak times it can take up to 40 to 45 minutes to get through the village. This happened more than once last summer as I was held up on several occasions.
What worries me more is that there is no Emergency Contingency Plan in place for when this congestion happens and after numerous searches it is not possible to put one into place and therefore lives could be put in danger.
I am sure if the original bypass had been built in the 1950s, as planned, the majority, if not all of the SLVSSB group would have come to live in the village with a bypass already in place!
Mr Tottle refers to the scheme as a daft development and states that they are determined to stop it. Well, can I just say, and I am sure I speak on behalf of the majority of the residents of Llanbedr and surrounding area, that we are as determined to see this vital development carried out and look forward to the starting date.
Yours etc,
Cllr Annwen Hughes, Llanbedr and Llanfair Ward, Gwynedd Council.
