Pull on those trainers and don’t miss the chance to enter this year’s Cambrian News Aberystwyth charity 10k race, which helps raise thousands of pounds for local charities.

It is the 21st race this year and there are 750 places for the 2019 event.

But 528 places have already been taken up – with three months to go – so you need to be quick to sign up if you want to be guaranteed a race number.

The 2019 race takes place on Sunday, 8 December, starting at 1pm near Aberystwyth bandstand. There is also a junior one-mile Prom Dash at 11.30am.

Runners are urged to sign up and to raise as much as possible for charity to add to the feeling of success on crossing the finish line.

There will be prizes for, amongst others, the fastest three males and females; first veteran males in age groups from 40-plus; first veteran female in age groups from 35-plus; also first male and female under 20.

There will also be a trophy for the winning team of at least three runners. As this is historically a ‘business team’ prize, team members must be connected by working for the same company.

There is a separate prize for the first three past the finish line from any sports club, whether affiliated to UKA or not.

Everyone who completes the race will receive a special cast medal courtesy of the Cambrian News.

The entry fees are the same as last year - £17 (£15 for affiliated WA athletes). The minimum race entry age is 15.

Race numbers will be sent out by post this year to avoid congestion at the bandstand, where the race starts.

The junior race has entry on the day only and minimum age is seven years.

All profits from the entry fees go to local charities and organisations. But runners can also raise money for the charity of their choice.

You can download sponsor forms on the Aberystwyth Athletics Club website.

You can also find details about the race on Facebook.

Charity stalls are welcome to set up a stall in the motorbike parking area on the promenade.
