A 22-YEAR-OLD with an intense fear of heights has jumped out of a plane in memory of her late father, raising hundreds of pounds for charity in the process.

Kate Allday from Barmouth has already raised £1,200 after undertaking the “terrifying” 14,000 foot leap over Shrewsbury at the start of the month.

Almost exactly 12 years ago, when Kate was only 10, her father tragically lost his life at sea alongside one of his colleagues whilst he was laying moorings in Barmouth Harbour for his local RNLI branch.

Although the exact circumstances of Keith Allday and Alan Massey’s deaths remain unknown, the RNLI remains a big part of Kate’s life and she was determined to do her bit to raise funds for an “amazing” charity.

Remembering the fateful night, the brave skydiver said: “I saw him go out on call with the Barmouth lifeboat crew night after night throughout my childhood, but never understood the importance of what they did until the night I lost him.

“On that tragic evening, all search and rescue crews were amazing, and did everything they physically could to help."
