A Barmouth schoolgirl has raised over £1,200 by donating 16 inches of her hair to a cancer charity.

Kaya Murphey, aged eight, decided to get her long flowing hair cut and donate the money to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses.

Kaya donated 16 inches of hair and raised £1,257 in sponsor money.

Kaya’s mum, Susan, said: “We would like to thank all our family and friends.

"A special thank you to Kristie Corbett of the Fussy Cow in Barmouth for letting us use the salon and Corinne Gannon for cutting Kaya’s hair.”
