Ceredigion County Council has been accused by disgruntled Lampeter councillors of ‘not practising what they preach’ when it comes to providing vehicle charging points for electric-run cars.

Cllr Hag Harris suggested that the local authority’s ‘lack of progress’ on plans to install such a scheme at the town’s Cwmins car park was at odds with County Hall’s ‘trumpeting’ of their green credentials.

And town mayor Cllr Rob Phillips said he felt Lampeter were being ‘fobbed off’, even though they had instigated the idea and were prepared to contribute to costs.

Simmering unrest among came to a head last week when Cllr Harris expressed frustration at the lack of ‘any meaningful contact’ with Ceredigion County Council officers.

“The county council are willing to trumpet its achievement in this area but our experience in Lampeter is not positive at all,” said Cllr Harris.

Cllr Phillips said: “Unfortunately, dealing with Ceredigion County Council on this has been very difficult and it seems as if we’re being fobbed off.”
