Ramblers

THE WALK from Pontgarreg, an attractive hamlet near Llangrannog, on Saturday, 7 May, was followed in two parts in a figure of eight. From the village, the group first progressed on the course of the Ceredigion Coast Path towards the Urdd camp where they turned back inland and fol-lowed a footpath to Tredwr and on to Cilygorwel and a return to the village centre. The route then followed up through Allt Cwmhawen-fawr returning to Pontgarreg on a footpath via Panty-gelli. It was a delightful walk on a fine day with lovely sea views and more enjoyable for the time of year with the countryside abloom with wild flowers and the trees newly in leaf. The group has also started to walk St Illtyd’s Way with the first section on Saturday, 30 April, from Pembrey Country Park to Furnace. The 64-mile route will be walked in sections throughout the year having being newly launched following much improvement work undertaken by Ramblers volunteers. In June and July the group will be following the Mary Jones Walk from Llanfihangel y Pennant to Bala.Booking is essential for this as there are limited places. The project has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund and is open to non-members who have an interest in completing the trial. Christian Aid

DURING the collection week, a special meeting of all those interested in the work of Christian Aid will be held at the Vestry of Brondeifi Chapel on Thursday, 19 May, at 7pm.The group is extremely fortunate this year that the chief executive of Christian Aid in Wales, Huw Thomas, has agreed to address the meeting which will follow a brief service by representatives of the different chapels and churches in Lampeter. Please come and support this worthy cause.
