OVER £25,000 has now been raised in memory of a brave toddler from Nefyn, who lost his life to a rare lung condition at 20 months old, writes Kathryn Cummings

Efan Evans died at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in December 2012.

The toddler suffered from a rare condition which only affects a few people in the UK, called Surfactant Deficiency Protein C, which hit his lungs.

After Efan passed away his parents, Bleddyn and Bethan, set up a fund called ‘Cronfa Efan’, later changed to ‘Elusennau Efan, to raise money in his name and memory.

Elusennau Efan recently held a children’s superhero fancy dress-themed disco at the Ganolfan in Nefyn where they raised a further £500 which will be donated towards the Make a Wish Foundation.

Bethan said: “It was a very special night as we reached the landmark fundraising total of £25,000.

“We celebrated this by awarding the 25th person through the door – which was Tracy and her daughter Ruby – with a bottle of bubbles!

“Myself, Bleddyn, Beca and Ywain would like to thank everyone for their help and support in helping us to continue to raise money in Efan’s memory.
