TONNES of earth have collapsed onto a popular walking path following a landslide, leaving the area “very volatile”.
The collapse occurred on the Wales Coastal Path between the Ty Coch Inn and Porthdinllaen Lifeboat Station on Saturday night (2 June), blocking one of the area’s most favoured trekking routes.
Owners of the pub have urged people to not use the path as more landslides are a distinct possibility.
A statement released by the pub, which has been shared hundreds of times, encouraged people to stay safe.
“Please, please avoid this route at all costs until further notice,” it read.
“It is still very volatile and liable to slide more if there is disruption!
“You can still reach the lifeboat station by following the public footpath along the golf course.”
The closed route does not affect getting to the Ty Coch via the beach from the golf course or via Morfa Nefyn.
Gwynedd Council is taking action to rectify the closed path.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of the landslip which affects a small section of the coastal path in this area and council officers are discussing the matter with the National Trust as the relevant landowners.
“In the meantime, a small diversion will be put in place until the matter has been resolved.”
