Cars will no longer be able to park on a housing estate access road in Llanbadarn described as “an accident just waiting to happen”.

Double yellow lines are set to be put down later this month at the entrance to the Maes Mawr estate.

The late Cllr Paul James, who served the area for more than 15 years but sadly passed away earlier this month, had been pleading with Ceredigion council and Dyfed-Powys Police to get something done in the area over fears that youngsters at the estate are being put in danger because cars are being parked on an access-road to the estate, limiting visibility and causing cars to mount pavements.

In this newspaper last year, Cllr James said residents at the estate were becoming “increasingly concerned” by the issue.

He made calls for the double yellow lines at the very edge of the entrance to the estate to be extended – and his calls have been heeded.

New double yellow lines will be in place at the end of April after an order was made, Ceredigion council has said.

New signs have been erected along the access road, but remain covered until the lines are painted.

A Ceredigion council spokesperson told the Cambrian News this week: “The signs have recently been installed but covered as they are not yet enforceable – the order is due to be made on 23 April. Once the order is made and all lines installed, the signs will be uncovered and the restriction will then enforceable.

“This is the case at a number of locations across the county.”
