Madam,

Further to Cllr Gareth Davies’ letter (No justification in calling for leader to resign her post) I feel it is important to point out a few facts.

The payment to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is not a ‘one off’ payment for, if the savings identified by PwC are more than what was envisaged, they will be entitled to further payments.

As leader, Cllr Ellen ap Gwynne is ultimately responsible and, in that capacity, is responsible to the electorate.

Some of the work that PwC completed could have been done by the qualified, dedicated and hard-working employees of Ceredigion County Council, thus saving the electorate money.

It is naive of Cllr Davies to say that the general public are constantly criticising the staff, officers and elected members of the council, given that it is the staff who are feeling the backlash of these cuts in redundancy, hours cut and other austerity measures.

Yours etc,

Juliet Price, Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth.
