Volunteers at Harlech Ardudwy Leisure Centre are celebrating 10 years since they took over the running of the centre.
With the help of £800,000 in grants, a team of volunteers took over the popular leisure centre and swimming pool in 2010 after Gwynedd Council announced it was to close.
In early 2011 work commenced on a new reception area, a climbing wall and a café, as well as essential maintenance work to the swimming pool basin.
The new community-run centre was officially opened on 9 January 2012.
The leisure centre held a community day on Sunday, 26 January, to celebrate the past 10 years.
During the community day attendant could take part in activities free of charge. But £305 was raised for the centre due to generous donations on the day.
This included a donation from the Harlech Triathlon Club that is currently supporting local people through a couch to 5K training plan.
A spokesperson for HAL said: “We were pleased to have representatives from several other local organisations which allowed for visitors to learn about what we were doing as well as enjoying the facilities.
“Outside we had the fire service and Harlech Community Parks Group. They were the hardy ones!
“Inside it was great to have the following represented: Merioneth Yacht Club, Outdoor Partnership, Celtic Rainforest Project (Snowdonia National Park Authority), CMC Adventure, Clwb Beicio Ardudwy and Rock Ardudwy.
“Thank you to all for being part of the day. It was a great day and we hope to see lots of return visits to this wonderful facility managed by the community for the community.”
