Addressing the slave trade and destroying statues, to my mind is a complete waste of time.

Slave trading happened many years ago, long before our time.

Removing statues, vilifying the traders, and changing street names will never alter what happened, it is part of our history.

Whatever you do, you cannot change that.

We can see now that it was wrong, let us then learn from the mistakes, and turn our attention to stamping out modern slavery, where our efforts would be seen to do good.

One must not forget that a great deal of the slave traders and people who took on the slaves, donated a considerable amount of money to causes to further the education of other less fortunate people.
