Litter-picking equipment has been delivered to Machynlleth’s library as one of a number of ‘hubs’ across Powys.

Keep Wales Tidy has provided the equipment that can be borrowed by people planning community litter picking events.

The equipment will be stored at the town library and can be booked through the Powys Council website, with people using the equipment also being asked to try and provide information on the scale of littering in the town and details about where the issue is at its worst.

Rachel Palmer, Powys’s Keep Wales Tidy project officer, has said that the introduction of hubs to house equipment would help community clean ups.

She said: “With so much public concern about single-use plastics in our environment and our need to ‘reduce, re-use and recycle’ more, we feel that the Caru Cymru project has come at the perfect time.

“As it involves collaborative work between ourselves, the county council and many community groups and volunteers, we think it will be more of a ‘movement’ than just a project.”
