Eglwysfach, near Aberystwyth, will act as a magnet for visitors from all over the country who come to enjoy a literary festival to celebrate the life of the poet R S Thomas, who was once the village’s parish priest.

The Dyfi Valley, RSPB Ynyshir reserve and the church with its history, its myths and legends are added attractions.

The birds, the mountains and the marshes become increasingly attractive when combined with the poetry of this internationally acclaimed Welsh poet.

In addition to this, the festival, which runs from 20 to 22 September, will feature a competition for poets to write one or two pieces in response to chosen excerpts of poetry of R S Thomas.

The adjudicators are the former National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke and Prof Tony Brown.
