Madam,

Re the story in last week’s Cambrian News, headlined ‘Village hood-winked over bypass’ and quoting Tony Newbury. My wife and I went to a council presentation in the hall in which a number of maps were on show showing all the alternative routes for a bypass and were clearly marked as such. We could also fill in questionnaires with our opinions of each one so Mr Newbery was either not paying attention or didn’t go to the presentation.

However, the arguments put forward do not alter the fact that Llanbedr needs a bypass. I have walked down the main road every day for almost 10 years, it is narrow and dangerous. There are very large HGVs thundering up and down, car drivers who think that the 30mph sign is the minimum speed they should go and cars parked, everywhere make it exceedingly hazardous for pedestrians, especially as there are no pavements. I just hope I am around long enough to see the bypass built.

Yours etc

Keith Barber

Llanbedr.
