SIX young musicians are set to have an unforgettable experience of performing in a local well-known festival near Porthmadog this weekend.

The Yn y Golau (In the Light) project, run by CEG (Cerddoriaeth Eryri a’r Gogledd, Snowdonia and the North’s Music) with the support of Gwynedd Council, gives an opportunity for the artists to perform on the The Woodcutters Lodge stage at Festival Number 6 in Portmeirion between 1 and 4 September.

Gwynedd Council’s leader, Cllr Dyfed Edwards, said: “This is an innovative project that we as a council are proud to support. The backing that these young artists receive will be extremely valuable as they develop and performing at Festival Number 6 will be an unforgettable experience for all of them. I wish them every success at the festival as well as in their careers.”

The Yn y Golau project was created to support musicians that study in Gwynedd to take the first step in their musical careers. Yn y Golau gives the artists an opportunity at Festival Number 6 as well as offering support through mentoring to build their confidence and ability to develop a network with talented young musicians in Gwynedd.

The musicians who will take part in the Yn y Golau project will be Alex Woodall (Coleg Menai), Phoebe Newman-Walker (Coleg Menai), Magi Tudur (Llanrug), Kiani Geldard (Bangor), Gethin Llwyd (Bangor) and Hannah Wilwood (Llanberis).
