Clwb-y-Ddôl

LATE in January, members met for their AGM and programme planning session. The president, Gaynor Breese, took the chair and welcomed members, hoping that everyone had had a good Christmas. Messages of good wishes were sent to members who are ill or who have been in hospital and the club welcomed a new member to their ranks. Secretary Frances Fenwick read the minutes of the AGM held in January 2015 and these were agreed and signed as correct. Treasurer and assistant secretary, Judy Allday, distributed and then explained the financial report. The club is grateful to the Llanbrynmair Wind Farm Trust for a generous donation each year. In light of this, it was then agreed that membership, outings and the 2016 Christmas luncheon to be held at Maes Mawr Hotel would each cost members £10. All the officers were re-elected and agreed to serve. The annual Welsh tea will be held on 5 March. The entrance ticket will cost £1.50 and there will be a raffle and various stalls and competitions. Frances made a special plea for people to bake cakes for the produce stall as these always sell well and there are never enough. The monthly Whist Drive at the community centre will, as usual, be sponsored by Clwb-y-Ddol, who will provide the prizes and the supper. Frances said she had been contacted by a few people who will join the tea rota and she will be able to complete the programme. Gaynor closed the AGM by thanking Frances and Judy for all their hard work in making the club a success.A discussion about the programme followed. June Hill volunteered to organise a quiz and a number of speakers and suitable topics were suggested. Frances will put a programme together and have them printed in time for the February meeting. Members then enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea, provided and served by Carol Brookfield, Glenys Ashworth, Sarah Owen and Ona Coombes. They were duly thanked by the president before June Hill won the raffle.Clwb-y-Ddôl meets at the Llanbrynmair School and Community Centre at 2.30pm on the last Thursday of the month and new members are always welcome.
