Motorists affected by a road closure near Llanddewi Brefi face a diversion of around 20 miles.

Ceredigion County Council has introduced a temporary prohibition of through traffic on the U1516 while highway refurbishment work is carried out.

The order came into force on 1 October and will remain in place until the work has been completed.

According to the council’s official notice, the alternative route for westbound traffic travels north from Soar y Mynydd towards the C1240 before continuing west to the B4343 at Tregaron.

Traffic is then directed south along the B4343 towards Llanddewi Brefi before returning to the U1516 and travelling east towards the closure.

The full alternative route is approximately 20 miles, which could be adding in excess of 40 minutes journey time for those affected.

Pedestrian access along the affected highway is being maintained while the closure is in force.
