Community Council

AT THE recent meeting, Cllr Mair Thomas reported that she had attended a village hall meeting and she presented a copy of the financial balance sheet.

It was made known that the trees in the play park need cutting back and that the next meeting of the village hall committee will be held on 25 November.

A retrospective application to retain a parking area and entrance on land near 1 and 2 Pen Lan, Llanfair (NP5/66/212B) was supported by members.

An application to replace a house at Tegfor, Llandanwg (NP5/66/246) was also supported.

An application for financial assistance was then received from Harlech Leisure Centre, and it was decided to postpone the decision until after the open evening.

The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Meirionnydd Host County 2016 was allocated £100.

The council received a letter from Gwynedd Council’s Highways Department informing members that the service of providing salt bins is not a statutory obligation on the council they will be passing the responsibility of looking after them over to the Community Council from 1 April 2016 and the cost of filling a salt bin during the winter will be £156.00 and the cost of providing a new salt bin installed and supplying with salt would be approximately £281.00 and therefore the community council will have to put this cost on their annual precept.

Gwynedd Council wanted to know the intention of the community council proposal regarding this provision.

It was decided that there was a need to keep all the salt bins in the area and therefore it was agreed to take the responsibility for the salt bins over from 1 April 2016 onwards.

Cllr Mair Thomas informed the members that the dog mess bin in the car park at Llandanwg is always full and that she is keeping an eye on the situation and at the moment it has been emptied.

It was made known that there is a stone loose near the notice board in the village and it was agreed to ask Hywel Jones to make it safe.

It was decided to let the Highways Department know that there is a need to clean the drains at the bottom of Cae Cethin hill on a regular basis as leaves and pine needles gather and because of this causes surface water to go into the road during bad weather.

It was agreed to hold the next community council meeting on Thursday, 26 November.
