WITH Christine Freeman in the chair, the meeting opened with Jerusalem. Condolences were offered to Christine on the death of her husband and she thanked the group for their cards. February birthdays included former member Mavis Gaskill who will be 90 on 22 February. Newsletter items of particular interest were Te Cymreig at Dyffryn Village Hall on 26 February with entertainment by school pupils. It costs £5, names to Sandra or Pat. Bookings are now being taken for the all-Wales AGM on 20 to 21 April in Llandrindod Wells. Cheques to GMFWI to be sent to Reta Evans by 14 March.
At the Royal Welsh Summer Show in Builth Wells, from 18 to 22 July, Gwynedd-Meirionydd will run the craft stall and sales table.Gwen Pettifor appealed for mate-rial for making fabric boxes, bags, trays and cushions. Craft classes will be held at the office in Dolgellau on 16 March from 10am to 3pm to show how these items are made. Bring sewing machines, unload at door then drive to car park. Bring own lunch; tea and coffee provided.Ardudwy Leisure will hold another rock festival this summer to raise funds for the swimming pool. They need volunteers to produce miles of bunting in any fabric. Pat-tern from Stella Calvert.Sandra Atkin then ran two quizzes on the theme Know Your Committee, with childhood photos and statements of unusual facts not generally known about each person. Frankie Gregg and Pauline Bed-son won both quizzes. Sandra presented a slide show of Llanfair’s Centenary Year with accompanying musical sound track. This was brilliantly put together and included all events attended by members. Sandra was warmly thanked for her hard work.The raffle winners were Margaret Buckley and Jill Houliston. Sue Travis won the monthly competition.The next meeting, on Friday, 11 March, has a talk entitled Beneath the Waves by Paul Kay.
