Gwynedd Council matters
CLLR Annwen Hughes reported that the results of the speed check monitor that had been placed on the A496 by Pensarn following concerns of speeding had been received.According to Gwynedd Council’s transportation and street care service, the section of road does not conform to the criteria of a 40mph speed limit, she reported. In addition, a traffic survey was conducted between 30 March and 6 April.During this period, the average speed at Pensarn was 41mph with 85 per cent of vehicles travelling at 48mph or less.As the speed of travelling vehicles is relatively low for a 60mph road and the number of accidents is also relatively low, it would be difficult to justify any major work to improve road safety.Gwynedd Council officers said that measures have been introduced to try to improve the situa-tion.Recently, warning signs and ARAF/SLOW road markings have been placed on the road at Pensarn.
Date of next meeting
IT WAS agreed to hold the next council meeting on Wednesday, 8 June.
