Arwystli Society

LLANIDLOES Arwystli Society met on Wednesday, 22 June for a guided tour of the Freemasons’ Hall near the library.There will be a visit to Llwynmadoc Farm in Abermule on Wednesday, 13 July at 2.30pm, tea and cake £1 per person. Names will be taken. Phone 07791 987396 to book.

Carnival Rounders

THERE will be carnival rounders at Llanidloes Cricket Club on Friday, 24 June at 6pm. 8 in a team (adults only) can include 2 of secondary school age.£16 per team, proceeds to Llanidloes Carnival. Bar and barbecue. Come and show your support. Phone Katie Hamer to enter a team on 07482 191772.

Dog Show

NEWTOWN and District Canine Society present a Companion Dog Show in aid of “Furever Homes” at Llanidloes Community Centre on Sunday, 31 July. Entries taken from 11am, judging starts at 12pm. KC licensed, judge Diane Davies (Orlov), Pedigree and Novelty Classes and Junior Handling Classes, judge Mrs C Norman (Normansville).There will be a raffle and hot and cold refreshments.

Trinity Church

THE Rev Jenny Garrard is retiring on 30 June. A service of release is being held in Trinity Church, Shortbridge Street on Thursday, 30 June at 7pm. A warm welcome to all.

Rugby Club

THE AGM of Llanidloes Rugby Club will be held at the Rugby Club in Smithfield Street at 6pm on 10 July. All members welcome.

Bingo in aid of Tenovus

THERE will be bingo in aid of Tenovus Cancer care on Wednesday, 22 June at the Rugby Club.Doors open at 7.30pm and eyes down 8pm. 50p entry for adults includes tea, coffee and biscuits.

Concert in the Park

THE Rotary Club of Llanidloes are proud to present the 18th annual “Concert In The Park” featuring the talented pupils of Llanidloes High School, past and present. At Severn Porte (if dry) or Llanidloes Church (if wet). 8 July at 7pm, admission free.

Wheelbarrow race

LLANIDLOES friends of the school present a wheelbarrow race on carnival day, Saturday, 9 July. It starts from the Angel pub at 12pm, teams of 2 (one must be over 16) £5 per team, registration forms from the High School Office, Lion Pub and Woosnam Newsagents.All money raised goes towards supporting Llanidloes High School. Milk Bottle Tops Collection

MILK bottle tops are being collected again. Woosnam & Davies news have again started collecting clean plastic milk bottle and drinks tops to help buy a special wheelchair for a child in Newtown, drop off point at Woosnam & Davies newsagents.Telephone 01686 412263.

Llanidloes Charter Market

The Llanidloes Charter Market committee held a best dressed stall to celebrate the Queen 90th birthday, with first prize going to Helen Lee from The Cake Farm and second prize going to Tony Thorn with his queen stock painted by his brother Mike Thorn. The judge was Simon Phillips. The committee would like all the stalls who decorated their stalls.
