LLANNOR and Efailnewydd WI met on 14 March at the sports club where Jean Coker welcomed 14 members to the meeting. After the business section of the meeting, Jean welcomed the speakers, Arabella and Adrianne from the Boduan Sanctuary, which is part of the Eternal Forest Trust.Arabella and her partner Colin decided they would like to estab-lish a natural burial centre and thought a woodland site would be a peaceful location. They found Boduan Wood in 2005 and their first burial was Arabella’s father. The wood needed fencing and clearing, and paths needed to be made. The work is ongoing and is carried out by themselves together with volunteers. The woods are open to anyone for walking or just sitting peacefully.Bird and bat boxes have been put up and wild flowers are flourishing, they said.A total of 108 burials have taken place, with quite a number of plots pre-booked.Adrianne is an independent undertaker based in Llanrug, she helps to arrange funerals, many of which have taken place at the sanctuary. She emphasised how important it is to pre-plan your funeral and let family know your wishes.Funerals can be as simple or as traditional as you want.Joan gave the vote of thanks. The competition results were: First and second to Dilys, with Joan third. The raffle was won by Jackie and Diana. The tea hostesses were Pat and Edith.
