Madam,

With Easter just around the corner, Pwllheli high street should anticipate a welcome surge in business, which will help the local economy by creating a few essential jobs for our beleaguered labour force.

It is not just our high street shops that feel the pinch at this time of year. Despite allowing our town council to hibernate and our chamber of trade and tourism to maintain a very low profile in these straitened times, we locals remain loyal to our high street shops.

Pwllheli never ceases to provide a very pleasurable shopping ambience. Gwynedd Council’s efforts in keeping our pavements clean, even and free from pools of storm water is another ‘plus’ factor.

Unlike some towns, the streets of Pwllheli are relatively free from the dangerous nuisance of hordes of youths who habitually cycle on pavements.

Okay, while many shop online, we old fogies must appreciate that this is the 21st century.

Yours etc, E Roberts, South Beach, Pwllheli.
