So as I predicted, there has been an almost 70 per cent increase in fly-tipping. This started almost as soon as the councils changed the way they were working.

So why oh why don’t they see this? They must have a major look again at the way they collect rubbish. It certainly is not totally sorted at the moment.

People are dumping it anywhere that they think is a hidden unattended spot. They don’t seem to care that they are blighting their own environment, which will come back to haunt them sooner rather than later.

For the sake of us all this must be sorted. It will not go away. Dumping must be stopped, and laws in place that are a lot more strict to stop people flouting the law.

Councils need to do the job of rubbish removal in the way it once was. They must realise they are falling short. The overall cost of doing the job twice, is a lot more than doing a good job in the first place.

• It’s so nice to read of good old Barmouth’s community spirit, helping a paddleboard company SUP Barmouth in their recent loss. Helping them to stay afloat.

Let’s all hope that these thieves get their comeuppance. Times are hard and local businesses are all trying to keep going against terrible odds. Thank goodness that tourists have flocked back, increasing the odds of businesses being there for another year.

We all want joy in our lives, and it seems so faraway at the moment. Community spirit is just the ticket to get us there.
