As yet another hedgehog is run over in our village, despite a 30mph speed limit and good lighting, I dashed off these few lines in the hopes of making people more aware of a largely avoidable threat to this increasingly rare yet very useful member of our native wildlife.

Killing hedgehogs isn’t clever, Squashing hedgehogs isn’t fun, Just a bump under your tyre, And there goes another one.

Hedgehogs do no harm to people, Eat up pesky slugs and snails, So pay attention when you’re driving:Be part of Hedgehog-Safer-Wales.
