A HEAVY goods vehicle cleaved its roof after hitting a low bridge on Tuesday morning, causing hours of delays for motorists.
The top of the Spar lorry was ripped off in the accident at about 10.30am on the A497 between Porthmadog and Pentrefelin, smashing into Wern Railway Bridge on Penamser Road, Porthmadog.
The road was closed until 1.30pm with buses, cars and lorries all having to perform U-turns and find different routes.
The lorry suffered extensive damage and debris littered the road.
