Madam,

The interesting whole-page article on the Commodore Cinema in your 2 June edition was a valuable and thoughtful account of an important part of Aberystwyth’s cultural scene, but I found myself wondering how the staff of the Arts Centre Cinema must have felt when they saw the article’s secondary headline describing the Commodore as “Ab-erystwyth’s only cinema”.

This is equivalent to telling the Arts Centre cinema staff that they don’t exist and it must have been very hurtful, quite apart from being inaccurate.I wish the Commodore well, but please would you remind readers that the Arts Centre cinema also runs a vibrant and extremely varied programme of films, including all the latest releases as well as special interest films. There are 64 screenings this month alone. We are very lucky to have two cinemas in Aberystwyth, and we should not forget it.
