Legendary singer Lulu performs at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Friday, 25 October.
Celebrating 55 years since the release of the debut smash-hit single Shout, Lulu’s On Fire UK tour comes to an end early next month but not before making a stop in Ceredigion.
On Fire is a show packed full of the Grammy-nominated singer’s hits, such as The Man Who Sold The World, Relight My Fire, To Sir With Love and, of course, Shout, amongst many others, as Lulu recounts her remarkable life now at 70 years old and a career that has outshone many of her contemporaries.
Backed by her band, a huge LED screen (for the first time) showing carefully selected personal and career-defining moments, Lulu will have the audience sitting, standing, dancing, singing, laughing and simply listening to an amazing story that started on 3 November 1948.
Lulu said: “I’ve so enjoyed touring with my amazing band over the past few years that it didn’t take very long for me to get the urge to hit the road again.
“We’ll be playing here, there and everywhere, so I invite fans old and new to come along and share a great night.”
Speaking of what fans can expect, Lulu said: “It’s going to be a chronological journey through my career, featuring anecdotes and hits over six decades. It’s the story of my life.
“I had to pinch myself at the time; now I’m pinching myself all over again when I realise how blessed I was.
“I’ve always said I’ve had angels on my shoulders.”
Singer, songwriter, actress, business woman and national treasure are all labels that have been attributed to Lulu, who has stayed the course, when many have faltered, simply because of her talent as an artist and her determination as a person.
Even at the age of 70, she never tires of performing.
”Look at the Stones. Look at Elton,” she said. “There’s your answer. If you’re passionate about music – and I am – why would you stop?”
Her powerhouse performances have ensured a loyal following of fans who come out year after year to witness a legend at work, so expect a faithful band of followers to turn out for a nostalgic trip through Lulu’s career when she takes to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre stage at 8pm on Friday.
