A LLYN baker has scooped a top prize at one of the world’s biggest cake shows.
Hefina Evans from Llaenaelhaearn won the Silver Award in the Cupcake Class at the world’s biggest cake show – Cake International, held recently at the NEC, Birmingham.
The show saw 1,500 competitors from all around the world competing, with over 80 competing in the same class as Hefina.
Hefina’s piece was an interpretation of the legend of Blodeuwedd from the Mabinogion.
She had to create two identical sets of six cupcakes and a suitable display, and was judged on the merit of her work.
The Silver Award at Cake International was literally the icing on the cake for Hefina after a few months of winning numerous awards, including the cookery and produce championships at the prestigious Royal Welsh Show in July.
Hefina’s love of cake decorating began as a hobby about six years ago, but in September of this year she established her own home cake business called ‘Melys Moes Mwy’ where she specialises in designing and decorating celebration cakes and cupcakes.
