FOLLOWING recent Welsh Bowling Association County Championship victories against Mid Wales CBA and Pembrokeshire CBA in the seniors’ championship, Montgomeryshire CBA has shown its trust in Machynlleth bowlers.Seven of the town’s bowlers, Andrew Fleming, Nigel Fleming, Thomas Jenkins (reserve), Deacon Price, Garry Price, David Rowlands and Jonathan Taylor (captain), are in the county’s squad to play South Glamorgan at Penylan BC on 19 June.John Astley, Barry Fleming, Alwyn Jones, Kevin Jones, Ivor Price, Brendan Rogers and David Rowlands make the county seniors to play Carmarthenshire CBA seniors at Park Howard, Llanelli, on June 2. In the first division of the county league, Machynlleth impressed as they collected six of the seven points in their 12-shot victory at Newtown.Maglona (1.5 pts), despite picking up their first points in the league’s second division, lost at home to Llansantffraid (5.5 pts) by 14 shots.Meanwhile Machynlleth ladies’ unbeaten run remained intact as they beat Berriew ladies 20-7, giving them their third success in the Montgomeryshire Ladies’ Wednesday League.
Carnival quiz
PRESENTED by the Machynlleth Carnival Committee, with quizmaster Gareth ‘Fuzz’ Jones putting the questions, the White Lion Hotel is hosting a quiz night on Sunday, 17 July, at 7pm.Entries are invited for teams of two to four at £10 per team.
Pool
LLEW Coch, 12-3 winners at home to Skinners A, and Rugby Club, edging an 8-7 victory over visitors Llanbrynmair, maintained their unbeaten start to top the table, following round two of the Machynlleth and District Pool League.Dwynant visited Bowling Club and won 9-6 and Skinners had an emphatic 13-2 score line at home to Llew Coch Ladies.

A TALK by Dilys Williams on Drovers of Wales will feature at this month’s meeting at Machynlleth Bowling Club on Friday, 17 June, from 2pm to 4pm.
Fête
THERE will be a Machynlleth Guiding Community Fête at Plas Machynlleth on Saturday, 9 July, from 10am till 4pm.Plenty of stalls to review and the “famously fabulous” raffle. All welcome and entrance is free.
Tabernacle
THE Coleridge in Wales Festival comes to the Tabernacle Museum of Modern Art to help the organisers bring to an end to the hugely popular exhibition Romanticism in the Welsh Landscape on Friday and Saturday, 17 and 18 June.Entry to the galleries is free.They are open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm.
