MAJOR disruption to rail services between Aberystwyth and Birmingham has continued into this afternoon.
Arriva Trains Wales announced a replacement bus service between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury this morning after a vehicle collided with a bridge between Machynlleth and Caersws.
It is not known whether the incident was related to poor weather, and services have not resumed despite the disruption originally expected to last until 3pm.
Also, due to a tree blocking the railway between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton, all lines are blocked and train services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.
Even those passengers fortunate enough to be on an operation rail service could face delays as ATW announced all trains are to run at reduced speed at least until 4pm.
Arriva Trains Wales advised people not to travel unless “absolutely necessary” as services look set to suffer disruption into this evening.
If your train journey has been delayed you may be entitled to compensation. Please keep your ticket to accompany any claim.
