TWO self-proclaimed “professional long-distance idiots” are running an ultra-marathon in fancy dress to raise money for a new all-weather pitch in Pwllheli.

Huw Williams and Gordon Hughes have already run 3,000 miles between them in 2017 – although Gordon is 431 miles ahead – but are adding to that total by taking on the 42-mile Castle to Castle Ultra from Aberdyfi to Harlech on 9 December.

The money they raise will go towards a new pitch and lights for Pwllheli Hockey Club.

Huw said: “Pwllheli Hockey Club is in desperate need for a new pitch, the original one is in a state of disrepair and as well as the senior team, the youngsters of Llyn will miss out due to the state of the pitch”

“Local sports clubs are vital to the community”

To bring as much attention to the cause, both Huw and Gordon will be running wearing wigs and full women’s hockey gear for the duration of the run.

“If we miss the last train back from Harlech, we’ll be having a very odd night out indeed!” added Huw.
