A DOLGELLAU councillor has labelled some motorists in the town as “inconsiderate” when parking in certain areas, and has called on them to think of others.

Motorists parking on Lombard Street into Eldon Square, and between the HSBC bank and a charity shop in the town have caused issues for residents, the councillor claims.

The issues have been raised to several town and county councillors including Cllr Delwyn Evans, who is also mayor of Dolgellau.

Cllr Evans said: “Many people have complained to me about two spots in Dolgellau where inconsiderate people are parking their vehicles.

“These are from Lombard Street to the flower shop in Eldon square and between HSBC Bank and Harri’s shop.

“Neither of these two areas have restrictive parking but by parking inconsiderably they are stopping people with baby buggies, elderly people, disabled people and wheelchair users from being able to enter the town centre without having to move to a more dangerous way of entering the town.”

Cllr Evans added: “I am really disappointed for the elderly, the disabled and the parents with pushchairs that has to negotiate a very difficult route to the town centre.

“Town councillors and Gwynedd councillors have visited these areas.

“My message is please think of others when you park in these areas.”

The matter was brought to the attention of the town council at their most recent meeting on Tuesday, 2 March as Cllr Evans explained how he had received complaints from residents

At the meeting, Cllr John Cadwaladr said: “People complained to me over Christmas because they couldn’t get between the cars. Someone with a pushchair can’t get through.”
