TWO Gwynedd mechanics think they have what it takes to become a fashion icon in a new TV show fronted by Welsh model Dylan Gardner.

In a new series on S4C, 10 Welsh mechanics will compete for the chance to be the face of their industry.

Two of those mechanics are from Dwyfor and Meirionnydd, Matthew Hughes, 33, from Penrhyndeudraeth and Owain Paramore, 20, from Pwllheli.

In Ffasiwn Mecanic, starting on Friday, 31 March, on S4C, professional model Dylan Garner tries to find the ideal mechanic to become a new fashion icon.

Matthew is hoping to wow the crowds and judges and is used to the big stage after raising £30,000 for charity by running a marathon.

He also sold his van last summer to fund a trip to watch Wales play in the European Championships.

Matthew said: “If I could be any car I’d be a rally car. Plenty of noise, full of power and strong enough to deal with any problems I face.”

Owain, a marine mechanic in Pwllheli, believes his diverse skill set will give him an edge.

He hopes to win the series so he can buy his own car – at the moment he uses the company van.

Owain said: “I’ve always enjoyed fixing things and tinkering with engines. So when the production team came to my work looking for competitors, I thought it would be a challenge for me.”
