A MEMORIAL service will be held in Nefyn next Saturday to commemorate the life of sexual assault campaigner, Jill Saward.
Married mother-of-three, Jill, became the first rape victim to waive her right to anonymity after she was assaulted by two men in a vicarage in Ealing, West London, in 1986.
She went on to campaign for and set up a support group for victims of rape and their families.
Jill spent a lot of time in Nefyn and her ashes will be scattered in the sea off Nefyn Beach on Saturday morning, 12 August, following a service at Eglwys Dewi Sant at 10.30am.
All those who wish to pay tribute to Jill’s life, work and ministry are welcome to attend.
Following the service, Jill’s widower, Gavin Drake, will scatter her ashes in the sea off Nefyn Beach, in accordance with her wishes.
Jill chose Nefyn as her final resting place because of a long-running connection with the town which began in her late teens.
