A west Wales family has launched a book “in memory of their incredible father”.

Local author John Tudor Jones passed away in January this year at the age of 94.

Those Were the Days is an English adaptation of the Welsh book Cofio’r Hwyl, adapted by Sioned Lleinau.

John Tudor Jones was a farmer in his youth and later an agricultural merchant, and this book recounts his adventures with family and like-minded friends in west Wales and beyond with light hearted humour.

A night in a police cell and his bewildering association with the Great Train Robbery are a couple of stories in Those Were the Days.

This is a sequel to Cofio N’ol, or Recollections, published in 2020, recounting rural life in west Wales.

Daughter Ann Davies, of Felindre, Llandysul said: “John Tudor Jones spent his life with preservation at its heart, in the form of tree and woodland preservation, old machinery and tractor renovation and the preservation of rural traditions.

“He also believed in preserving memories. In turn, the author has left a wonderful legacy of written memories and stories for family, friends and communities in West Wales and beyond.

“Recording past times for the generations to come was at the heart of all he did.”

Due to continued requests, reprints of the other three books are available: Cofio N’ol, Cofio’r Hwyl and Recollections are available at local bookshops, the village shop in Drefach Felindre, Siop y Pentan in Carmarthen, by emailing [email protected] or phoning 07977 425703.
