A LLANFAIR pensioner who went missing from her home has sadly died in hospital.

On the afternoon of Sunday, 6 November a huge search was launched to find 78-year-old Nanette Halewood in the Harlech area.

North Wales Police requested the assistance of South Snowdonia Mountain Rescue Team and Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team to help them in their search for the pensioner.

At about 5.30pm North Wales Police confirmed she had been found near her home and was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor where later that evening she sadly passed away.

Supt Nigel Harrison at Caernarfon Police Station said: “Despite Mrs Halewood being found and airlifted to hospital just a few hours after being reported missing, I’m sad to report that she passed away in hospital. Her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.”

Her death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner for north west Wales has been notified.
