Thank you for publishing my concerns over a reduction of beds due to new Covid spacing rules (‘Bed spacing rules spark fears for small hospitals’, 6 May).

While the health board say there are no plans to close community hospitals, they didn’t say they were safeguarding beds.

This is how the health board works, just as in Blaenau Ffestiniog, the hospital had 17 beds, but were closed because the health board said it wasn’t financially viable to run a hospital with fewer than 20 beds.

They also say in your article they want to encourage the public to use minor injuries units etc.Well at the moment the MIUs in Tywyn and Dolgellau are closed!

Is there a need to have distances between beds when the majority of residents in Gwynedd have been vaccinated?
