AN ABERYSTWYTH model has been in front of the camera for a different reason later this month, as she takes her first steps into the world of television presenting.

Nia Marshalsay-Thomas, a former Ysgol Myfenydd and Penweddig pupil from Llanddeiniol, is co-hosting the S4C show Ceffylau Cymru which returns to screens for its second series on Tuesday.

The show takes a look at the roles horses play in modern-day Wales, and for 30-year-old Nia, who has competed with horses since the age of four, the job was a “dream come true”.

“I’ve always been around horses, and I can’t imagine life without them,” she said.

“I love everything about them - the noise, the smell, the way they move.

“This is my first ever experience of presenting a TV show and I have loved every second and appreciate the opportunity."

Nia, who works as a human resources officer for Ceredigion council, has also been modelling for around five years.

Ceffylau Cymru is fronted by horse breeder David Oliver and will take a look at the renowned Derwen Stud Cobs, delving into the history of the Eyarth Stud near Corwen and hearing about the success of breeders Ron and Debbie Thomas from Llanddarog.

Ceffylau Cymru is on S4C with English subtitles and starts on Tuesday, 28 March at 8.25pm.
