Ceredigion council is still considering monthly black bin bag collections – despite only recently moving to a three-weekly service.
The authority has recently introduced changed collections with three-weekly black bag waste collections and a new three-weekly collection of glass.
But a draft waste management strategy for 2019 to 2025 has admitted that further changes, including a monthly collection of black bag waste or limits on the amount of black bags that can be put out, will still be considered.
The council has said that it wants to ensure that as much waste as possible is recycled as it is cheaper than dealing with black bag waste, but said that with budgets coming under increasing pressure the council would have to consider if it could continue to provide all services it currently does.
That includes considering the future of household waste sites or introducing some charges.
The strategy says: “We need to produce less waste and deal responsibly with the waste we do produce.
“Our services need to be efficient, flexible and adaptable to cope with change.
“At the same time we need to reduce costs.”
With the new waste collection structure now in place, the council has said it will monitor how things proceed, but couldn’t rule out further changes which include the removal of glass bottle banks.
