A YOUNG father died when he misjudged a bend and hit a kerb with his motorbike on the Talyllyn Pass, an inquest has heard.

A verdict of accidental death was recorded at the inquest of Huw Moss Hughes, 25, of Afonwen, Pwllheli, who was riding a motorbike on 6 May last year on the A487 near Cross Foxes.

Mr Moss Hughes was airlifted to hospital in Stoke on Trent, but died days later from his injuries.

The inquest held in Caernarfon heard how investigators believe Mr Hughes lost control on a right-hand bend and that there was no mechanical fault with his bike.

Mr Moss Hughes’s family paid an emotional tribute to a “hardworking, fun-loving son, partner, father, big brother and friend” following his death.

“We are all heartbroken and devastated following the tragic event,” his family said.

“Huw was loved by us all and will be very sorely missed.

“He was a proud father to a six-month-old daughter who he was besotted with.

“Only last year he passed his plastering qualification with distinction and he worked hard for the family building company.

“He enjoyed working out, especially weightlifting. He was due to attend the Bodypower event at the NEC this weekend where he had progressed to the National Championship.

“He was so popular amongst all his friends. As a family we were so incredibly proud of Huw and our lives will never be the same without him.”
