Madam,

When I told of the forthcoming closure to a French friend, who had studied in Aberystwyth, she expressed her sadness that an independent café with such a friendly family atmosphere should be forced to close.

There are plenty of coffee shops in Aberystwyth, and my wife and I have tried most of them over the past 50 years. MG’s was in a class of its own.

When the basket of croissants is empty, in what other café would a member of staff run down to the nearby bakery to buy a croissant for one customer’s order? That is service beyond excellent.

Farewell Sam and Fiona and Karen and the lovely serving maids and the cheerful young men. We will miss you all.
