A COMMITMENT to help ‘beat cancer sooner’ has been made by the Dwyfor Meirionnydd MP soon after she lost a “dear friend” to the cruel disease.

MP Liz Saville Roberts pledged to help Cancer Research UK save more lives in her constituency and throughout Wales by raising awareness of the lifesaving benefits of early diagnosis.

It is said that over the course of this Parliament two million people will be diagnosed with cancer across the UK.

“We must not underestimate the devastating impact cancer will have on local people now and in the future so it gives me hope to hear that Cancer Research UK’s pioneering research is turning the tables on the disease,” she said.

“I recently lost a dear friend to cancer. We really need to raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis.

“Treatment for cancer is often simpler and more likely to be effective when the condition is diagnosed at an early stage.

“More people are surviving cancer than ever before, but thousands of cancer deaths could still be prevented each year if more cancers were diagnosed and treated at an early stage.

“So I wholeheartedly support this campaign by Cancer Research UK to help people to spot cancer early and spread the word that early diagnosis can save lives.”
