TORRENTIAL rain could not dampen the spirits of thousands of festival-goers at this year’s muddy, marvellous Festival No 6.
Following last year’s washout – which saw dozens of cars and families stranded at a flooded carpark – there was an air of nervousness of how the popular festival, now in its sixth year, might play out.
However those concerns were soon dismissed as lessons had clearly been learnt from last year at the deliberately scaled down extravaganza.
A new, loftier carpark location, additional walkways and more crowd control measures ensured that the artists, and not the weather, took centre stage this year.
Whether it was developing talent in the woods behind the ever-scenic Italianate village of Portmeirion, dozens of choir members belting out a rousing Rag’n’Bone man cover in the central Piazza, Kate Tempest swaying the crowds in the Grand Pavilion or the Bootleg Beatles and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra sending the crowds ecstatic at Stage No. 6 – there were pulse-racing renditions across the festival at any time or location.
