A LLANGEITHO mother has raised over £1,500 for muscular dystrophy after completing the Cardiff Half-marathon to help raise money and awareness for the condition her son has.
Jackie Sinnett-Jones completed the event in October after deciding she wanted to do something to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK, with her son Iestyn suffering from a rare form of the condition that affects around one in 1.3m people.
Proud Iestyn has paid tribute to Jackie for her efforts and said the money raised would be a massive boost to help people with muscular dystrophy.
Jackie, who works for Ceredigion County Council, said she was pleased to have completed the event and was thrilled with the support she had received.
She said: “I completed the course in two hours and 41 minutes and even managed a sprint finish to the finish line.
“It was an absolutely brilliant day and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and footstep.
“The atmosphere was amazing throughout and the support along the route was something I have never experienced before which made it all even more enjoyable.
“Looking back now I found the training harder, building up the mileage compared to the event on the day.
“I am so happy that I have achieved this but putting things into perspective, my struggle is now over, but Iestyn’s struggle in everyday life is ongoing.”
