An Aberystwyth woman left in a critical condition after a drink-driver ploughed into the tent she was sleeping in has now died.
Artist Anna Evans, 46, was injured during the incident in the early hours of Monday, 19 August, at the Rhyd y Galen campsite in Bethel, near Caernarfon.
Mrs Evans, a mother-of-two who was married to Huw Evans, a groundsman at Aberystwyth University, was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with life-threatening injuries before being transferred Royal Stoke University Hospital where she later sadly died.
Mrs Evans died on Tuesday night after the Cambrian News went to press.
Her family said earlier in the week: "From the whole family we would like to say thank you to everyone for the messages of support."
Dozens of friends also pledged their support on Huw's Facebook account.
Jake Waterhouse, 26, of Hazel Walk, Partington, Greater Manchester, has already appeared before Llandudno magistrates. He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to Mrs Evans by dangerous driving, failing to provide a breath specimen and driving without a licence or insurance.
Magistrates heard that Waterhouse took "full responsibility for the devastating events".
DI Andy Gibson said: “Our thoughts are with Mrs Evans’ family and friends at this very sad and distressing time for them.
“The investigation into this tragic incident continues and we are liaising closely with the Crown Prosecution Service.”
Three other people injured in the incident have been released from hospital.
