Friends and family joined mum-of-two Carly Cooke on a gruelling 18-mile coastal walk from Aberystwyth to Aberaeron to raise awareness for Children with Cancer UK.
Carly took on the walk in a bid to raise money for the charity after her five-year-old son, Harri, was diagnosed with a rare cancer last year.
Carly, a student at Aberystwyth University before going on to work at the Welsh Government building and the Cambrian Mountains Initiative, explained how Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare type of bone cancer.
The 30-plus coastal path army, of all ages, came together from all across the UK, including Gloucestershire and London, for the walk on Saturday, 31 August.
They clung to the coastal path on a wet, windy and then hot late August Saturday and have smashed their target of £3,000, with the total now over £5,000 and still rising.
Harri was diagnosed in January 2018 after a CT scan revealed a large tumour inside his sinus cavity. After a gruelling nine months of chemotherapy treatment, he is now in remission and last week went back to school in Year 1.
“I am delighted that we have been able to raise so much money for the charity and wish to thank everyone who has donated,” said Carly.
